A black and white format with a single large image of a legendary African American figure accented with a color appropriate to the content, serves to emphasize the historic importance while drawing in passersby. Each poster highlighted a different set of collections and were unveiled in SF States's Leonard Library periodically through the month.
In 2009, Alex Cherian uncovered footage from film canisters in SF State's Bay Area Television Archive, while working on a digitization project. He came across a canister titled "Angelou" which contained the 1968 10-part television series "Blacks, Blues, Black" along with never before seen footage from the production.
Along with this footage, Cherian also uncovered an digitized interviews with Oakland's Black Panther Party during its formative years, making them easily accessible to the public through San Francisco State University's special collections archive online.
